  • A man smiles through an open window as he drives a car
  • Am I wrong for not passing down my discount when picking up lunch for my coworkers?

My team at work usually coordinates getting lunch together at work one day a week. I put it on my card, but then everyone pays for their own meal by giving me cash, Venmo, etc. Most the places we get food are usually around $15-20 a person. I am always the one
  • who drives to pick it up and can use a discount I have at most places we eat, usually 10% off. I don't "pass this discount down" to my coworkers, and once they found I was using my discount, some of them started arguing that I've been profiting off our team
  • lunches. But I feel like it's too tedious to do the math on everyone's individual order for what would be $1- 2 off, plus, I'm taking on the burden of going to pick it up and using my vehicle and gas. If I didn't go pick up the food, our team would probably never get takeout. There's only a
  • couple places within walking distance of our office, so I feel like to a degree there's also a service in getting takeout and them not having to pay for something like UberEats or Door Dash. AITAH?
  • Four coworkers eat Chinese takeout together
  • OldestCrone NTA. Stop going. Just stop. They don't appreciate what you are doing. From now on, they can go buy their own food. Let them spend their own time and money. They can also opt to brown bag it.
  • If there are a few people who are reasonable and you are still willing-continue doing the fetching. When the sour pusses complain, tell them "no" because they complained before. Do not give in to them just to be s good guy. They had their chance, and they blew it.
  • Gattina1 NTA. Stop picking up everyone's lunch, and they'll soon realize they were getting a deal, even without your discount. BTW, the discount is YOURS, not theirs.
  • link-is-legend So you're acting as their dasher? And they want to penny pinch? Maybe you should ask for some service fees and a tip. NTA. Maybe it's time for others to rotate and pick up, use their gas, lose their parking spot....
  • -Maris- NTA. Anyone who complains can go pick up their own din lunch.
  • TheAngryAustinite What happened to I fly you buy(?) they should be chipping in to buy your lunch if you're going to pick it up. NTA, and your coworkers are wild for that.
  • GeoLilDevil NTA Tell them the discount is paying for your gas.
  • alwaysoffended88 NTA. Whoever is about not getting the discount can feel free to get their own food from now on.
  • w1feyymaterial nta, ur driving, using ur gas, and doing all the admin. $1-2 off per person is ur gas money basically
  • Stephreads Gas is $4.40 a gallon where I am. Have they considered that? When I was an apprentice in the trades, I went out for coffee for the crew. Every person gave me a little extra so that it would cover mine. That's how it works - You fly, I buy.
  • Additional Return6435 Soft YTA- I think you should have told them about the discount for the sake of transparency. Now you look dishonest.
  • CodeKey2124 NTA, if they wanted the discount, they can make an account, and go get it. Or place their own orders and you can just go get it
  • kimness 1982 NTA. That's the convenience fee.
  • SmitedDirtyBird ESH but unequally. They are being super stingy, ungrateful, and entitled. You are a very soft A because I feel like you've thought about all of this before hand. You knew it was a little sketchy and stayed quiet for the pocket
  • change. The "too tedious to do the math for what would be $1-2" was funny because ya, you could have just called it $1.
